Over the past ten years, Pybus Market has built a reputation in our community as a place to gather, learn, build, connect and grow our sense of togetherness and regional belonging. Dozens of community organizations and nonprofits use our space at a discounted rate — or for free — to further their own missions, creating a diverse and vibrant assortment of programs and activities each week at Pybus Market. Recurring events include Nick's Bricks, an extremely popular LEGO building event that gives away thousands of free Lego bricks to children each year; the American Red Cross Blood Drive; Art Alley, showcasing local artists and their work; and Pybus University, which offers free community classes on such diverse topics as CPR, recycling, estate planning, meditation, and a presentation by the North Central Washington Dahlia society about putting your dahlias to sleep in the fall. The discounted and free space offered to these community groups and nonprofits allows them to reach a broader audience, focus on content rather than space considerations, and maximize the efficiency of their fundraising and their community impact. This year, Pybus anticipates providing discounted space to our community valued at over $95,000, support that enriches the lives and hearts of all our residents.
This event will enable Pybus Market to provide more of the types of programs and services described above, supporting and enriching the North Central Washington community to an even greater extent. Events like American Red Cross Blood Drives; candidate forums with local, regional and state-wide candidates for public office; recreation film nights for movie buffs; raising money for Haitian charitable relief; cultural events like Día de los Tres Reyes; educational events put on by the North Central Washington Dahlia Society and Fire Wise, which educates local citizens about fireproofing their homes and businesses; fundraising to support Ukraine; and more — it all happens at Pybus Market. We believe passionately that our mission is to promote the greater good of all members of the NCW community. Conservative estimates show that over $1 million is raised at our facility annually to support local community groups, a number that could be even higher with your support.
